We all know that feeling, at least the ones of us who use Skype. That word doesn't mean what you think it means, but you keep using it.
In the case of Skype, "Sign out" is a lot different than "Close". When you just want to exit the darn thing, but you try to close it, and it keeps popping up.
What does "close" mean?
Close isn't really what you think it is. Only sign out and close, both will do the trick that you seek. Good old Skype.

It is definitely confusing. Because some programs or apps do this, where they have a "close" and a "sign out" button, but do they both do the same thing?
Make your app navigation user-friendly. That's the crux of good web design. Everything should be super easy to understand and easy to use. You will get and retain the most users if you accomplish that one thing.
